Thanks to LC of theloy.com for introducing me to this ridiculous but somehow good St Petersburg duo with the name of Messer Chups. This combo of surf guitar, theremin, schlock horror movie samples and the odd bit of electronica is very reminiscent of the Cramps. In a good way obviously.
I don’t even know is so good about this track, it’s so laidback and unostentatious it is barely there. It also might suffer a bit from being overused in tv programmes soon (see also - Air, K & D, Royskopp, Blue States) But until then, there’s something niggly and compelling about it.
Aussie DJ(s) Riot In Belgium have that trendy Kitsune sound — Daft Punk-ish distorted and filtered electro-rock — but do it brilliantly:
‘La Musique’ starts off sounding pretty generic, but right about 2:40, the vocals really kick off and it becomes ten times as good. wow.

As you probably know if you look back through the posts here, I have a thing for a good combo of distortion, synths, and beats. Black Moth Super Rainbow are a cool indie band who mix lo-fi noises with gallons of analogue distortion, to great results:
