2000 Light Years, 30 Years On

Sgt. Peppers, bah! Worth noting that Their Satanic Majesties Request also appeared in 1967, just a few months later…

  1. It’s a long time since I’ve heard TSMR, but I remember thinking it was a bit slight, compared both to Beatles albums and later Rolling Stones albums. Maybe they were still putting the best songs out on singles at that stage.

  2. Yeah, all the best songs on it were (apparently) released as singles alright — “2000 Light Years from Home”, “She’s a Rainbow” notably. But those two are still great tunes — esp 2000 light years! what a tune!

Also, I’m on a bit of a psychedelia thing at the moment, so I’m not paying too much attention to the more rocky albums anyway. ;)

  3. Damn right, seargent peppers is utter crap, load of dreary nonsense that everyonbe thinks is the senith of psychedeila, bollocks, thirteenth floor elevators, rolling stones (satanic era), very early pink floyd, all much more interesting, and more to the point not a scouse accent in site!!!
