Hot Chip remixing
been a while since I posted — here’s a good couple of tunes I came across recently. Hot Chip have been doing buckets of remixes, and to be honest, they’re starting to sound a bit same-y to my ears:
- start off with the original song, add some improved beats and sawtooth synths with a pretty light touch
- BUT about 2/3rds of the way through, suddenly segue into a full-on Hot Chip Bass/Synth Drone Workout
actually, I’m not complaining — I love it! Here’s one that really works out quite well:
Tilly and the Wall - Sing Songs Along (Hot Chip Remix)
The slightly tweeeee sounds of Tilly and the Wall (this is the one with the tap-dancing on a sheet of metal, tap-dancing, seriously) are much improved by those Chippy synths. It never really gets too mental, unlike:
Queens of the Stone Age - I’m Designer (Hot Chip remix)
omg, halfway through, the poor old QotSA are nearly discarded in favour of cowbells, crazy sawtooth arpeggiation, heavy distortion on the vocals, and droning keyboards. Brilliant!
